Hello all,
I was on the Peter Dyson website and saw offered there both mainsprings and sear springs which were advertised as being "made in the USA". Does anyone know of a North American manufacturer of quality replacement springs for a 1st generation P-H Volunteer rifle?

There is a place in Watertown WI, USA and the name escapes me...; they have a lot of stuff and might have or know. wouldnt the locks/springs likely be the same as for the big bores?
Anybody remember what the name is?

gcrank,
I've often wondered myself if the original P-H BP rifles shared the same locks and trigger mechanisms. I Owned an 1853 3-band back in the eighties and this Volunteer sure feels familiar.  Maybe someone has more than one of the originals and can try swapping locks or comparing the internal parts to see if they are the same. It would make parts hunting a lot easier if they were.

jacko,
I am pretty sure that all but the tumbler's are the same. They have a differnt cut with a fly to keep it from catching on half cock. I think thst gcrsnk may have been refering to Lodgewood Mfg in Wisconsin. They will have what you need.

Thanks for the replies everyone,
I contacted Lodgewood but they are out of  springs for the P-H's. They are offering an original Enfield spring for a princely $55.00 though. I ordered a replacement main and scear from Peter Dyson instead. Cheers.
