- How a rifled musket is made at the Providence Tool Company's Armory.
Scientific American, 7 & 14 November 1863. Describes how
the company manufactured the Springfield musket during the American
Civil War. This illustrated article gives a fascinating insight into
the technological developments of the period. The company is perhaps
better know today for its later manufacture of the Peabody-Martini
rifle.
