British Riflemen In America The 4th MLAIC Long Range Muzzle Loading World Championships were held at Camp Butner, North Carolina, USA, 22-26 September 2003. This book documents the training, the match and travels of the Great Britain team. Appendices include background on the small-bore muzzle loading match rifle, team equipment, match program, targets and scoring, plus full match results. In addition a report is included on the team visit to the Virginia Military Institute and the private viewing of the Henry Stewart antique firearms collection. The Story of Creedmoor - [Review] Based around an article originally published in 1876, the story of Creedmoor is told from the founding of the NRA in America, to the establishment of the world famous Creedmoor rifle range and the first major international rifle match. Having won the Elcho Shield in 1873, Ireland challenged the riflemen of America to a match to decide the Championship of the World. The international rifle match of 1874 was the forerunner of the famous Palma Matches, still held today. The original eleven page article is supplemented by nine pages of notes, adding historical comment. A further 14 pages of Appendices give a chronology of Creedmoor and the International Matches, transcripts of the original challenge and the Amateur Club's appeal for riflemen, team profiles, full results and selected target diagrams.
