F. Hyde (c1832-?)
1877: Member of
the USA team at Creedmoor, USA.
1880: Member of the USA team at Wimbledon, England.
Frank Leslie's
Illustrated Newspaper, 15 September 1877
"Mr. Frank Hyde is a man of forty-five Summers. He was formerly
the agent of a sewing-machine company, but is now associated with the
rifle manufacturing company whose gun he uses [Sharps]. Last
year he shot well up for a place on the national team, but he and one
or two others had to give way to Colonel Gildersleeve
and Bodine, whose advent inot the teams was
thought to have materially strengthened it. Hyde shoots from the back
position, and uses the heel sight. This year he made, in the team competitions,
1,191 out of a possible 1,350, which gives him an imposing average of
198 1/2."
