G.W. Yale (1826-?)
1874: Member of
the USA team at Creedmoor, USA.
1875: Member of the USA team at Dollymount, Ireland.
New York Mercury,
27 September 1874
"Mr Yale is 48 years old. He shoots in a some-what similar position
to that of Mr. Fulton. Mr Yale made the second best score yeaterday."
Harper's Weekly,
10 July 1875
"Mr. G.W. Yale is a native of Connecticut, having been born at
New Haven. He is now about forty-nine years of age. For many years he
has been identified with the gun-manufacturing interests of this country,
and is at present General Superintendent of the Sharps Rifle Company.
Although a thorough expert in all matters relating to rifle-shooting,
Mr. Yales's prize list is not a long one. During 1874 he confined his
efforts mainly to long-range practice and coaching other men, in anticipation
of the International match. He was elected as one of the American team,
and made a score of 162 points out of a possible 180."
